Japanese Inspired Garden
The problem
These homeowners wanted to create a Japanese-inspired side garden for a newly purchased home. They also wanted to remove their grass lawn and reimagine the entrance to their home. The property had dated plantings and structures that had taken over the garden.
Our approach
Working within the requirements of the local HOA, we designed the side garden as a strolling path using the principle of “hide and reveal.” A gifted landscape contractor with years of experience with Japanese landscape design installed the garden, including the traditional stone water feature. Rustic Japanese lamps and a stone bench were added to the pathways. Fencing and gates were designed to reflect the aesthetic of the garden and to meet the HOA requirements.
